BOWERS & WILKINS P9 SIGNATURE

Sound experts Bowers & Wilkins are showcasing their stunning new audio hardware in an elegant location, bringing to life the seminal pieces from artist Wolfgang Tillman’s latest show in the Tate Modern. Having consulted on the piece with acclaimed sound expert Nick Whitaker – who has collaborated with some of the highest regarded recording studios such as Abbey Road and Astoria Studios – they have used expert design and materials to create a world-class audio exhibit.

The specially commissioned pieces by Tillman include video and photography work alongside the audio. In addition to the longer running exhibit, he will take over the Tank section of the Tate Modern for ten days in March with special live performances and events. Flagship speakers from Bowers & Wilkins are at the heart of it, with their 800 D3 model providing the expert-quality sound required.

Also launching are the newest headphone offering from Bowers & Wilkins, the P9 Signature, is no less impressive. Created as a celebration of 50 years on their ‘Quest for Perfection’, they are a statement in quality craftsmanship. It goes without saying that the engineering that went into the audio is top-notch, with the sound likened to listening to a set of stereo speakers rather than headphones. This is thanks to the more natural positioning of the transducer, and the ability to naturally place the headphones on the ear with an adjustable headband.

Memory foam ear pads cup the ear and provide a snug fit, while the Italian ‘stamped’ leather gives a truly luxurious feel to the set. Each element has been carefully selected, down to the suede-esque feel to the cover, and the leather detailing. Each set comes with a selection of professional-quality cables, designed to provide the ideal connection either at home or on the go. We were really impressed with the whole package, it’s clear that a lot of love has been poured into every element of the design to create something worthy of the half century celebration.
